At the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, home team superstar Neymar was injured in the semi-final match against Colombia. Colombia defender Camilio Zuniga knelt on Neymar’s back, injured his spine and ended his World Cup.

Portugal faced France in the Euro 2016 final and their biggest hope was Ronaldo. But the talisman striker was only able to play for 9 minutes as his struggle with Dmitry Pete ended his match. But Portugal won the trophy.

The Barcelona magician was leading his team well. But he suffered a radial bone injury when he fell at an awkward angle against Sevilla. Messi was out for a few weeks but Barcelona won the La Liga trophy.

1 Alexander Zverev, 2022
The German tennis star got Rafael Nadal in trouble in the semi-finals of the French Open. But Zverev suffered an ankle injury during the rally and had to withdraw from the match. He underwent surgery a few weeks ago but is unlikely to return to court this year.

He also missed the Wimbledon semi-final against Spanish legend Nick Kyrgios due to a stomach injury. It also shattered his hopes of a calendar slam.
3 Andy Murray, 2005
The then British No. 1 tennis player lost in the semifinals to Thomas Johansson in Queens (Stella Artois Championship). Murray was injured in the third set when the score was 5-5. Although he continued patiently, Murray was able to run as fast as he could and eventually lost the match two games later.

The legendary, popular Brazilian paid a lot for the crash at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. The army had an accident during the rally and doctors could not save his life. The other day, another driver, Roland Ratzenberger, lost his life, and Rubens Barichello was in an accident. But officials gave the green signal to the race the very next day.
2nd Man’s Disaster, 1955
Pierre Levegh was driving a Mercedes-Benz and after hitting Austin-Haley, he jumped into the air and the car crashed into the audience. A massive explosion ripped through the area, killing at least 81 people and injuring more than 100 others. After that, Mercedes avoided racing for almost 30 years.

In the match against France, the New Zealand captain injured his testicles and lost his teeth and the match is now known as the Battle of Nantes.

Wales Flyback broke his left leg during the Rugby World Cup practice match against England. This forced him to stay out for 14 months and eventually announced his retirement because of an injury that prevented him from practicing.

The enthusiastic cricketer suffered a serious knee injury while playing kho-kho during a practice session at Mohali during the 2006 Champions Trophy. Of course, Yuvraj continued to play for India and won a double World Cup in 2007 and 2011. But that effectively reduced him as a fielder because we rarely see him diving on the field. Then the knee hurt and had to undergo a lot of treatment.
2 Mark Boucher, 2012
South African wicketkeeper Mark Boucher suffered an eye injury during a practice match against Somerset, as his eyeball was bailed out by Imran Tahir. Boucher underwent immediate surgery but was unable to play the second match due to partial loss of vision. During that time, Boucher has played 147 Tests and a record 998 wickets, of which 555 are in Test cricket.

Shaun Abbott’s bouncer hit the Australian opener in the back of the head while playing for South Australia against New South Wales. Hughes immediately collapsed on the field but medical treatment could not revive him as his career and life were cut short at the age of 25.
