A special court for cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on Wednesday sought the return of Aryan Khan’s passport. The court also canceled his bail.
Aryan, son of Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, had received a clean chit from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in a drug-on-cruise case in May this year.
Aryan had presented his passport to the court in October 2021 after being granted bail after being arrested on charges of alleged use of drugs in a raid on a cruise ship here.
The NCB, which filed the chargesheet in the case in May, did not name him and five others as accused, citing “insufficient evidence”.
Aryan’s lawyers Amit Desai and Rahul Agarwal rushed to the trial court to get their passports back after the anti-narcotics agency gave them a “clean chit”. The NCB said in its reply that it had no objection to the demand. He said no inquiry was pending against him.
Special NDPS Court Judge VV Patil then ordered the court registrar to return Aryan’s passport permanently.
Ruling on the second plea of Aryan’s lawyers, the court said, “Petitioner Aryan Shahrukh Khan’s bail has been canceled and his bail has been rejected.”
When granting bail in the form of bail, a bail bond and bail are sought from the court which will meet the bail conditions while the case is pending.
A lawyer said the bond and bail were nullified after Aryan got a clean chit in the NCB case.
