Milwaukee —— Pittsburgh Pirates bought right-handed batsman Johan Ramirez from the Cleveland Guardians for cash and selected him for Triple-A Indianapolis.
The Pirates announced the deal on Friday before starting a three-match series with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ramirez, 27, has appeared in eight games this season with the Seattle Mariners and parents. He is 1-0 with a 6.97 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings. The right-handed batsman is hitting .222 against him.
With 15 triple-A matches, he is 1-1 with a 6.06 ERA.
Ramirez has played in 49 career major league games, including Seattle (2020-22) and Cleveland, saving five from 2/3 and 3.99 ERA.
The Pirates named him left-hander Aaron Fletcher for the assignment, giving him a place in the 40-man roster. Fletcher went 0-1 with a nine-match 6.94 ERA.
