AL East is a big deal – always was, always will be.
The Yankees and Red Sox are always in the discussion and if Ray, J and O are good, it turns into a duel.
This year, the Yankees are jugglers, slogging between Toronto, Boston and Tampa Bay, and Baltimore – albeit not ungodly in recent times – staying dormant.
So MLB season is half over (time will pass when you shout about the ball), let’s take a look at the deepest and most competitive section of baseball.
New York Yankees (58-22)
Not much to see here; Just one team is fast enough to get one of the best seasons so far.
The Yanks entered the game on Tuesday with a record of 58-22 through 80 games. Assuming they won on Tuesday and then doubled that record, the 2022 Yankees will complete 118-44, posting 116 wins to the 2001 Mariners and 1906 Twins for the best record in MLB history.
Will they Probably not. Unfortunately, gambling against history is always wise, because sometimes the balance is upset. Most likely, one or two key players will be injured and lose time, someone will slip and summer announcement will weaken this non-stop freight train. After all, Aaron Judge can do just that.
But after enduring the disaster, these Yankees will forever be known as the most influential regular-season ball clubs of the century.
MLB Power Ranking: Astros, Dodgers and Yankees top this week’s list
Ben Verlander gives us his MLB power ranking after the 13th week of the season.
The judge is gorgeous (I’m sure you know). With 29 bombs and .981 OPS to his name, he qualifies for the AL MVP on the medium sign. But the rest of the lineup also shone: Anthony Rizzo has 22 homers and 141 Ops +, Gleber Torres has returned from ‘21’ with 13 bombs, and Jose Trevino has taken emergency possession a week before the opening day. One revelation and another best hitting catcher in the American League.
And don’t forget Giancarlo Stanton, even though most people seem to have it. It’s hard to fly a 6-foot 7-behem-like statue under the radar, but the judge and his 29 homers give plenty of shade. Stanton, 32, a pinstripe loyal to the mountains of his strikeouts, has not been able to fill the gap in his game this season, but he has still hit 20 homers. No one on planet Earth or beyond can throw a tougher baseball than Stanton and no matter how many strikes he makes.
But while the tigers are thriving, weapons are a real divider for New York. Gerrit Cole, Nestor Cortés, Jameson Tellon, Luis Severino and Jordan Montgomery all have at least 14 starts and all have ERAs of less than 3.35. Cole and Cortes are probably all stars. And despite the injuries of veterans like Aroldis Chapman, Jonathan Loisiga and Chad Green, Bullpen has been thanked by the new Clay Holmes (just two runs in 37 innings) for a remarkable season.
The rest of this section is supernatural, hungry, and there are a few other clichs you’ll find, but the Yankees will have to fight for the section’s crown. Still, fans who flock to Yankee Stadium every night don’t care about the AL pre-championship. This team should be defined by what they achieve after the color of the leaves changes. Enjoy the show right now though.
Boston Red Sox (45-35, 13 games back)
On May 8, when the Red Sox were 10-19 and the Celtics were winning the Eastern Conference semifinals, no one in Massachusetts cared much about the Sox, even though things were definitely not going well. Since then, Boston has won 35-16 in the AL East standings and is in contention for a wild-card spot. The Sox ’20-6 record in June was the third-best in baseball, behind the Braves and the Yankees.
Why the Wave is a combination of unprecedented opening pitching and Raphael Davers with high eyebrows. Despite being 0.1 lower in the fangraph, Boston is the third baseman ahead of the judge in the fight. Yet at just 25 years old, Davers has taken that metric one step further by reducing its strike rate by 4% to move from 49th to 73rd percentile in baseball.
Perhaps most importantly, his protection will no longer be fully exploited. It’s not good yet and won’t win any awards for it, but it’s no longer playable and just not bad. And that’s a big difference from the 162-game season. If the judge moved on and Davers continued it, there would probably be a conversation about the AL MVP.
The return tour of the Boston Red Sox begins with a victory
Ben Verlander talks about the rise of the Boston Red Sox after a seven-game winning streak led by aggressive explosions and solid production from pitching staff.
In the crash, Boston started at 2.91 ERA in June – the lowest in baseball – and that’s without the rehabilitation of All-World Organ-Lord Chris Sales. Nick Piveta (whom I will call the Canadian Condrum from now on) has done a great job, starting with a handful of Solids Rich Hill and Michael Reed, and of course, a man named Josh Winkowski (2.12 in 17 IPs) outing from three greats. , October 2018 Three-Doc Monster Hero Ryan Brazier, Whispy-Gotti’s Tanner Hawk and the indescribably good John Schreiber have cut a few things in the latter innings.
Declarative statements are minor, but we all do; The Red Sox team isn’t enough to catch the Yankees. They’ll have some fun, playful ups and downs before October, but Boston can’t prepare for a 13-game crunch in the next 81 games. The wild-card date at Fenway remains the most likely outcome, meaning that given the uncertainty of autumn baseball, there could also be an ALCS date at Fenway.
Toronto Blue Jays (44-37, 14.5 game levels)
Last season, Jess toured the North American world, playing games in Florida and Buffalo before returning to Canada to loosen border restrictions. He fought valiantly in a game at Wild-Card Hunt in New York but failed. So expectations for this season were skyrocketing.
So far, things haven’t gone awry for Toronto, and inspiring moments have come, but overall, this… story is good but not great.
Bo Bichet? Well, not great. Theoskar Hernandez? Well, not great. Matt Chapman? Well, not good. Vlad junior? Great, but not an MVP-hunting alien life form. George Springer? Okay, or as expected. Alejandro Kirk? Catcher has seen the best hitting season in decades. Huh?
According to Mound, Jose Berrios and UC Kikuchi are disappointed. Berrios, 28, who received a deadline to trade for a large potential package and then extended it to 2029 by Toronto, was particularly appalling. Its content hasn’t changed in any meaningful way, and the pace hasn’t slowed, but it doesn’t appeal to people. Unique.
Alec Manoh, on the other hand, is the real deal. The 6-foot-6, SUV-sized Wright has already played 100 1/3 innings, dropping just 26 runs (2.33 ERA). He doesn’t throw the bat as much as you expect, but he gets knocked out and he’s getting it.
Honestly, I don’t know what to do with this team right now. Although Kevin Gossman and Santiago Espinel were substantially replaced, the loss of Robbie Ray and Marcus Semin in free agency was greater than the credit we all received. This club needs another cup of coffee, an afternoon espresso to wake itself up.
On paper, Jess has the talent to compete with the Yankees. Very bad baseball is played on diamonds.
Tampa Bay Ray (43-37, 15 games behind)
Prior to the expedition, the roster, which was deeper than the other end of the local swimming pool, was extended to its limits. Tampa Becky currently has nine hands on the 60-day injured list, including key bullpen pieces like Andrew Kitrez, JP Ferrison (he from 0.00 time), Pete Fairbanks, Jetty Chargois and Nick Anderson. Tyler Glasno is still recovering from Tommy John, while young and talented Luis Patino, who joined the Blake Snell Deal, has been in the IL since April due to a skiver.
This has opened the door to the more anonymous cadre of Tampa Bay reliever we usually see. Jason Adams, Ryan Thompson, Jalen Beeks and Brooks Rally have all been impressive (both Teal and Pride are ashamed of themselves for refusing to wear a patch in a month).
The real story here is that of Shane McClanahan, AL Sai Young’s early lead runner. Sugar Shane is so far untouched by the boundary with 133 strikeouts in 98 1/3 innings of 1.74 ERA. It’s not rocket science, but it’s kind of; McClanahan throws 100 from the left, and now that he knows where he’s going, the hitters are just praying.
Injuries have also hampered the lineup. Only four Ray – Randy Arozerena, Yandy Diaz, Taylor Walls and Harold Ramirez – have played more than 60 games. The Yankees have nine such players. Wonder Franco is stronger than his sophisticated campaign, with outfielder Josh Lowe hitting no licks in his first season and Brett Phillips, despite being a handsome man and a calculating force, is currently a hit. 148 / .218 / .252.
Real crime prevention players and this team has * check notes * G-Man Choi, Harold Ramirez and Isaac Parades? I think the rays are still rays. If they can survive these injuries, they will stay in the mix. If they can be really healthy, they will make some noise.
Baltimore Orioles (37-44, 21.5 game returns)
This team is not exploiting. I’m serious Even if your Baltimore Orioles team has a bad reputation, I promise you, this team is always bad. They also have some good players. Look at them – you will see.
Last year, the Reds won 18-1 against the Orioles, which played a big part in their release with the Tampa Division. But the birds are no longer pushing. So far this season, they have suffered a respectable 15-20 defeat against their former AL teammates, including a 11-10 record against the non-Yankees.
A big reason for Baltimore’s potential is the pitch. Do you know who Tyler Wells is? Did you know that he has a better ERA + than Gerrit Cole in 75 2/3 innings? See Baltimore’s bullpen numbers; It’s annoying, especially after the last few seasons, when it felt like O’s Reliever was donating a home run for charity.
Offensively, there is also capacity. Austin Hedge, Ryan Mountcastle and Trey Mancini are definitely good at shooting. Cedric Mullins has taken a step back from his 2021 campaign, but he still has the most bWARs on the team. Adele Ratchaman has picked it up after the first few weeks. It’s not a good lineup or anything, but the Orioles have a Rs. Have scored more than
“Who can take care of Orioles?” Boston, Toronto or Tampa Bay will play a big role in deciding whether someone can hold the top wild card in the American League.
Just another wild year in AL East.
