The Minnesota Twins put Chris Archer on a 15-day IL due to a hip

The Minnesota Twins placed right-hander Chris Archer on the list of 15-day injuries with stiffness in his left buttock on Tuesday.

The team said the move is retrospective until Saturday.

Archer was scheduled to play against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. The Twins called Josh Winder back from Triple A and he will start against the White Sox instead.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s game, Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli said Archer flew to Minneapolis, but the team hopes he will return in two weeks before the All-Star break.

The Twins signed veteran Archer to a one-year contract in the offseason. He has since impressed for AL Central Leaders, leading 2-3 with an ERA of 3.08.

Archer was third in the AL Rookie of the Year poll for Tampa Bay Ray in 2013 and fifth in the Sy Young Young Award poll in 2015. But he struggled in the most recent season before Resurrection 2022.
