Former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone faces more than 400m fraud charges

Former Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone faces fraud charges for failing to declare more than m 400m ($ 477m) of assets held abroad by the British tax authority, prosecutors said Monday.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Ecclestone, 91, had to face fraud for making a false statement.

“It follows a complex and global criminal investigation through HMRC’s fraud investigation service,” said Simon York, director of the Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) fraud investigation service.

His trial is set to begin on August 22 in Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London.
