Micah Parsons There was a star Dallas Cowboys Needed as a rookie last season and looking forward to taking advantage of his all-pro campaign in 2022.
Parsons seems to have made every personal compliment with a defensive rookie: Pro Bowler, First-Team All-Pro, Defensive Rookie of the Year. In his second season, he wants to achieve something more: the NFL SAC record.
“Yeah, 15 is at least the same. I want to hit 15,” Parsons said. “But 23 is the target to break the record.”
Parsons was not only the best defensive player in the league. He was the runner-up of TJ Watt’s Defensive Player of the Year. The Steelers Edge Rusher equaled last season’s all-time SAC record of 22.5. Parsons completed 13, slightly less than the dangerous record set by former Titans great Jevon Keres in 1999.
Nevertheless, he proved that he is the defensive focus of Dallas for the near future. With this comes more responsibility and higher expectations.
“I only take blessings from God,” he said. “I don’t think I want to live up to anyone’s expectations. If I could stay with him, I could face him. I’m just going to go there and play my game. I don’t want to go out. Don’t chase anyone there, I just want to do my job and that’s what brought me here and that’s what I’m going to do. “
What makes Parsons authentic is its versatility. Its straight line speed and agility are similar to defensive backs. A lineman may lose his strength, but he has the body of a linebacker.
With that variety, he wants to interrupt his tool belt.
“I told Trey that I could lead the team in this year’s selection,” he said of cornerback Trevon Diggs, who led the NFL with 11 INT. “We didn’t get paid for it, but I’m really practicing this year to get my hands on two options.”
This season will be just as effective for Parsons as last year. Any extra thing with an all-time SAC record will put him in a more select company.
