Atlanta Braves pay tribute to late play-by-play presenter Casey Motor

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves paid tribute to their longtime public announcer Casey Motor on Monday night at a ceremony ahead of the team’s first home game since his death last week.

A moment of silence was observed in his memory after a video tribute to Motor before the game against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Motor, 53, died last Wednesday. He has been a Braves public address announcer since 2007 and worked through the team’s previous homestand, which ended on June 26th.

Became known as the Motor Voice of Trust Park, which opened as the team’s suburban home in 2017 after moving through Turner Field in downtown Atlanta. He was known for his “Hello Baseball Fans” introduction, which was given in his loud voice before each game.

Sam Franco, who worked as a public announcer for the University of Georgia’s athletics program, assumed duties Monday night. Franco will continue to work as a public address announcer through the 10-Game Homestand.

Starting Tuesday night, some of Braves Motor’s recorded greetings will be used by fans and other announcements in home games for the rest of the season.

The motor grew up in Cobb County, home to Trust Park. His body will be laid to rest on Wednesday in his hometown of Smyrna, Georgia.

The cause of death of the motorist has not been made public.
