Milwaukee: Chicago constipation rookie outfielder Sia Suzuki has been active on the injured list after missing her left ring finger for nearly five weeks.
Suzuki was back on the lineup and cleanup spot for Monday’s game of the Cubs against Milwaukee. Cubs manager David Ross said Suzuki has been “itching for a while” to get back on the field.
Ross said before the game, “He feels great, the finger has no problem.
The Cubs selected outfielder Narciso Crook for Triple-A Iowa.
Suzuki, 27, signed a five-year, 85 million deal with the Cubs in March after working for Japan’s Central League’s Hiroshima Toyo Carp. In nine seasons with Carp, he was a five-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner.
Suzuki has a .344 on-base percentage in 41 games with the Cubs, .245 with four homers and 21 RBIs. He has not played since May 26 due to injury.
“He’s a good player like us when he’s hot,” Ross said. “It’s good to bring him back. Let’s see how it goes.”
