Alex Morgan scored a couple of goals in the first half and Margaret Purse scored late to help the United States women’s national team beat Haiti 3-0 in the group stage action at the CONCACAF W Championship.

– Rapino will be awarded the Presidential Medal of Independence
– Kasouf: Rapinoe’s USWNT role has changed, and that’s fine
– Faudi: Will USWNT Generation Shift Pay?

Monday’s victory at Estadio Universitario in Monterey, Mexico, helped USWNT overcome defensive struggles against upstart Haitians and secure their first match of the inaugural tournament between the leading sides in North and Central America and the Caribbean.

After Morgan’s opening two goals, Rosalord Borgela could have given Haiti a goal from the penalty spot, but she missed and then was given a yellow card for a foul halfway through.

The tournament runs until July 18, with the top four teams in the eight-team tournament automatically qualifying for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, with Australia and New Zealand hosting. The winner of this competition will qualify directly for the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
