Hardik Pandya led the Gujarat Titans to the IPL title in their first season, while KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson also did admirable work while leading their respective franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rahul led the Lucknow Super Giants in his first season and Samson ended the season as runners-up for the Rajasthan Royals.
“We have a lot of Indian captains doing well,” Dravid told a news conference. Hardik was one of them. Bhavya KL did well in LSG while Sanju did well in RK Shreyas in KKR.
“It’s really nice to see a young batsman lead the team. It helps people grow as players and lead the team to make decisions. It helps you grow as an individual and as a player. This is very good from our point of view. Indian youngsters are in the lead in the IPL.
India will take on South Africa in a five-match T20I series starting here on Thursday. While many new faces have been named in the Indian squad, the series also features Pandya and Dinesh Karthik, who are back after a stellar IPL campaign.
After being knocked out of the team’s disappointing group stage in the T20 World Cup last year, the struggling Pandya returned to competitive cricket in the IPL. He was instrumental in the success of the Titans, with bat and ball, which the Indian team enjoyed during last year’s World Cup.
Dravid said, “He was very happy to be back. Hardik is a great cricketer with both bat and ball. He has been very successful in white ball cricket and he has done well in this IPL too, ”said Dravid.
The former Indian cricketer was impressed with the captaincy skills of the Baroda player, saying that he was working for India to use the full potential of Panda. “His leadership in the IPL was very effective and he did well. You do not need to be a leader to be part of the leadership group.
“From our point of view, it is positive that he has resumed bowling. As a cricketer in terms of contribution, it is really important to make sure that we can get the best out of him. ”
