Sharad Ponkshe recalled the confusion during the performance of I Nathuram Godse Boltoy

In a recent interview, Marathi actor Sharad Ponkshe, who plays the role of Nathuram, revealed how he had to face opposition during the performance of the play. He shared his experience in an episode of the television program ‘Khupte Dasam Gupte’ hosted by Avadhut Gupte.

Sharad said that the play MI Nathuram Godse Boltoy will be held at Chandrapur in Maharashtra. According to Sharad, the play was scheduled to start at 9.30 pm and many people had gathered to watch it. Sharad said that as soon as MI Nathuram Godse was speaking, a group of 150 people came in and started rioting and the commotion continued till late at night.

Despite the group’s commotion, not a single spectator left the hall, Sharad said. Sharad further said that the commotion could have stopped at 4.30 am. Despite the controversy surrounding MI Nathuram Godse Boltoy, Sharad was happy that there was a huge crowd of spectators.

Apart from this play, Sharad had portrayed the character of Nathuram in the film Ram. It tells the story of Rama Saket Rama whose wife was killed in the Direct Action Day riots in Calcutta. Saket Ram was convinced that Mahatma Gandhi was responsible for the riots and set out to kill them. Apart from Sharad, the film also stars Kamal Haasan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Hema Malini, Girish Karnad and others. Bankrolled by Rajkamal Films International, it was a Ram box office success.
