The Los Angeles Dodgers lost right-handed reliever Daniel Hudson for the rest of the season and ‘this is a big loss’

ATLANTA – Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Daniel Hudson was listed with an ACL torn to the left at the end of the season due to injury on Saturday.

The move came as Hudson was on his knees in the eighth inning of a 4-1 win over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night in response to a dribbler hit by Ronald Akuna Jr.

“These were ACL’s clean tears,” said Dave Roberts, Dodgers manager.

Hudson is expected to take six to nine months to recover, leaving the team’s top setup in Reliever Bay. Hudson, 35, has five savings and a 2.22 ERA.

“Obviously, this is a big loss,” Roberts said.

Dodgers Bullpen had previously lost another late left-handed veteran Blake Trenon due to a right shoulder injury. Right-hander Tommy Kahnal (forward stiffness) is also on a 60-day IL.

To get closer to Craig Kimbrell, Brusser Gretrol or another pitcher should emerge as the next pool.

Roberts said, “People who are here will definitely have a chance. “I’m not going to tell you who he is, but he’s going to get a chance.”

The Dodgers activated infielder Hanser Alberto from the paternity list, recalling right-hander Mitch White and designated outfielder Stephen Romero for assignments.

White was called in to replace left-hander Andrew Haney, who was placed on the 10-day injury list due to swelling in his left shoulder on Friday.
