Seattle Mariners first baseman Ty France missed Thursday’s 2-1 win over the Oakland Athletics due to a left corner injury, but said he hopes to avoid a place on the injury list.
Athletics ’Sheldon News hit France’s left arm while running to the first bottom after France extended to catch a throw from shortstop JP Crawford at the bottom of the fifth inning.
France immediately fell to the ground and grabbed his hand in pain. He left the field on his own.
Seattle manager Scott Survey said X-rays are negative and France will get an MRI on Friday.
France are batting for Seattle this season with 10 home runs and 45 RBIs. 316. He was 0-by-2 in the game.
