CHICAGO – Boston Red Sox pitcher Rich Hill sprained his left knee against the Chicago Cubs early Friday morning.
Hill took a 4-0 lead in four innings and was out in the fifth of three innings.
The 42-year-old left-hander led PJ Higgins. Nelson Velazquez then tripled the wall in the middle and Christopher Morel scored on the groundout,
Hill was seen moving his leg at one point and was approached by an athletic trainer. Hill comes out after hitting Patrick Wisdom to load the base with two outs.
Tyler Danish came on and cut the gap to 4-3 with Rafael Ortega.
Hill, who made his debut with the Cubs in 2005, gave up three runs and three hits. He walked four and hit three.
