Chasing a target of 106, MP’s batsmen performed lightly and withdrew, losing four wickets. Captain Rajat Patidar scored the winning run for his team and added a wing to his domestic cricket cap.
For example, skipper Patidar scored a brilliant century in the first innings to take Madhya Pradesh to 536 in the first innings. Madhya Pradesh’s innings lasted exactly 14 hours and two minutes and by then it was all over and they knocked out Mumbai.
Opener Yash Dubey and top-order batsman Shubham Sharma maintained their dominance with the bat for the MP – players like Venkatesh Iyer and Awesh Khan, who were in Ireland for India’s T20I series, are missing – and Maharashtra bowlers. Many slam to dominate. Dubey (613 runs) and Shubham Sharma (578 runs) were instrumental in fulfilling the MP’s dream.
At the end of the fourth day’s play, Mumbai were bowled out for 113 for two in the second innings by skipper Prithvi Shaw (44 off 51 balls) and Hardik Tamor (25 off 32 balls).
In the first session on the fifth day, 41-time champions Mumbai were all out for 269, with Suved Parkar (51) and first-innings centurion Sarfaraz Khan (45) top-scoring. Thus, the MP wanted a target of 106 runs in two sessions.
For Mumbai, Sarfaraz Khan was the shining light throughout the season as the talented right-handed batsman ended the season with 982 runs. This was his second consecutive season with 900+ runs.
