London: Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas were both fined in the third round of Wimbledon.
Kyrgios secured his place in the fourth round on Saturday by defeating Sitsipas 6-7 (2), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7). But he was fined $ 4,000 for “audible obscenity” after falling victim to a code violation during the match.
His opponent, Tsitsipas, has been fined $ 10,000 for “non-playing behavior” for violating two codes during the match.
The stormy clash angered Tsitsipas, who said Kyrgios had a “bad side” and that he must have been “a bully at school” for the way he behaved throughout the match.
Kyrgios, who played against Brandon Nakashima on central court on Monday, responded to Tsitsipas by calling him “soft”. The flashpoint of the match came in the second set when Sitsipas threw a ball into the corner stand while missing the spectator. Kyrgios called Tsitsipas by default, but the game continued and eventually the Australian canceled it.
This is the second penalty of the tournament for Kyrgios, who has been fined $ 10,000 for “non-playing behavior” following his first-round win over Paul Zub. After seeing Jubala in five sets, Kyrgios confessed to spitting towards the fans.
Kyrgios said, “He literally came into the match not to support anyone, just to show disrespect. That’s fine, but if I give it back to you, that’s it. “” I’ve struggled with hatred and negativity for a long time, so I don’t think I owe anything to that person. “
