World Asteroid Day 2022: World Asteroid Day is celebrated on June 30 every year. This is a day approved by the United Nations to raise awareness about the dangers of asteroid impacts on the world. This day is observed with the aim of educating the general public about the dangers of asteroids and opportunities in the field.
The co-founders of World Asteroid Day were three very different people, the astronomer and the famous composer of the rock group Queen, Dr. Brian May, filmmaker Greg Richters, Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schwartz and Danica Remy, president of the B612 Foundation. He wanted to educate the general public about the importance of asteroids and their role in the formation of our solar system.
