Mississippi State has given an extension to football coach Mike Leach

A source told ESPN that Mississippi state and football coach Mike Leach has agreed to an extension of his two-year contract, which will increase his annual salary to 5 5.5 million and keep him in the 2025 season.

State law limits the contract period of state employees to four years. Leach’s previous salary was $ 5 million per year.

Leach, former head coach of Washington State and Texas Tech, is entering his third season at Mississippi State.

The Bulldogs went ahead 4-6 as COVID-19 shortened the 2020 season.

In Year 2 under Leach, the team reached a bowl game and finished third in the SEC West with a 7-6 record.

Mississippi State will begin the season against Memphis on September 3rd

Bulldogs star quarterback Will Rogers returns, who finished second at the conference last season in the passing yard (4,739) and passing touchdown (36).
