Jetty Poston wired-to-wire to win the John Deere Classic at the Open Championship

Sylvis, ill. – Jetty Poston completed his second PGA Tour championship and Open Championship by completing a wire-to-wire victory in the John Deere Classic on Sunday.

Three strokes ahead as the day entered the TPC Dear Run, Poston closed with a 2-under 69 with three-stroke intervals over fellow open qualifiers Christian Bezuidenhout and Emiliano Grillo.

Poston finished at 21-under 263. He opened with rounds of 62, 65 and 67.

Bezuidenhout scored 66 and Grillo 69.

Christopher Gotterup, a former Rutgers player, was on the field in a sponsor’s suit, scoring 66 for the fourth in 17 overs, led by Scott Stallings (70).

Poston birdied the first three holes, no. 5 and 6 bogeyed and added the next 10. He ran 4 feet for a birdie in the 17th over of par-5 and crossed 18th.

The victory came a week after the 29-year-old from Hickory, North Carolina, finished second at the Travelers Championships in Connecticut. He also won the 2019 Windham Championship.

The old course in St. Andrews is open July 14-17.
