Former ESPN NFL reporter and disability expert Hank Goldberg dies at 82

Hank Goldberg, who worked for ESPN for two decades as an NFL reporter and disability expert, passed away on Monday on his 82nd birthday, his family confirmed.

Goldberg has been undergoing treatment for acute kidney disease in recent years.

Known as the Hammering Hank, Goldberg was 17 out of 500 in the NFL season when he predicted the game on ESPN. He appeared on NFL countdowns and ESPN radio and contributed to the network’s excellent racing coverage.

Goldberg contributed to ESPN’s Daily Wager for the existence of the entire sports betting show, hitting weekly hits during the NFL season and making occasional appearances in the Triple Crown race. His last appearance on ESPN was in May, when he conducted a phone interview from the Kentucky Derby.

Goldberg worked long hours in Miami, working as a local radio and TV host for more than 25 years and as a Dolphin Radio analyst. He began his career in the 1970s as an assistant to the disabled Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder.
