The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Friday that Charlotte Hornets has charged Free Agent Miles Bridges with domestic violence following an incident earlier this week.
LAPD posted on Twitter Bridges was arrested Wednesday on charges of “intimate partner violence” following an incident in West Los Angeles two days ago, and was charged with domestic violence on a warrant.
He was released on a bond of Rs 130,000 and his court date is July 20. The LAPD said it did not issue a police report on domestic violence arrests.
Bridges’ mother of two, Michelle Johnson, posted a series of photos on Instagram on Friday showing injuries and medical reports showing “victims of physical abuse by a male partner; strangulation, brain injury; closed fracture nasal bone; rib pain; multiple injuries, strain on neck muscles.
She did not name the bridge by name, but said: “I hate what happened but I can’t keep quiet now. I have allowed someone to demolish my house, abuse me as much as I can and hurt our children.” .life, “Johnson wrote on Instagram.” I have nothing to prove to the world, but I will not let anyone who has committed such a heinous act repent and let me draw a picture of who I am. I will not let the people around me continue. And lie to protect this person. “Stay.”
Bridge’s agent, Rich Paul, did not return a phone call to the Associated Press and it was unclear whether he had a lawyer. An attempt to reach Johnson also failed and the AP could not find a lawyer on record for him.
Bridges, 24, is a banned free agent who is expected to make big money in the free agent market after the breakout season this summer.
The 6-foot-7, 225-pound bridge was the Hornets’ leading scorer last season, averaging 20.2 points and seven rebounds in its fourth NBA season.
The Hornets extended Bridge’s qualifying offer earlier this week, giving them the opportunity to match any offer sheet made by other teams. Before learning of Bridges’ arrest, the team indicated earlier this week that he wanted to re-sign.
The Hornets issued a statement Thursday indicating they are investigating the incident. “We’re in the process of gathering more information,” said NBA spokesman Mike Bass.
Information from the Associated Press was used in the report.
