WNBA All-Star captain Aja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm’s Brenna Stewart drafted their respective teams and finalized their rosters for the 2022 WNBA All-Star Game in Chicago on Saturday, July 10 at 1 p.m. (ABC). Wintrust Arena.
Candles Parker of the Chicago Sky was voted No. 1 overall by Wilson in the WNBA All-Star Team Selection Special, while Stewart selected Jackie Young of Draft No. 2 overall pick.
Wilson was given first-round picks (including the remaining six All-Star starters) as the most fan-voted, while Stewart made first-round picks in the second round, which included 12 reserved seats.
The all-star debut was decided by fans, current WNBA players and the media, while the reserve was chosen by the league’s coaches. WNBA veterans Sue Bird and Sylvia Fowles, who are both retiring at the end of the 2022 season, were previously considered to be the starting and co-captains, along with Wilson and Stewart, respectively.
After the draft was completed, Wilson traded Los Angeles Sparks’ Neneca Ogwumaik for New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu, and the teams also changed co-captains; Bird is now part of Team Stewart, while Fowles is working with Wilson.
Team Wilson will be coached by Becky Hyman, Wilson will be coached by Aces. Team Stewart will be led by previous winner Sky coach James Wade.
