Caleb Martin agrees to 3-year, 20 million deal to return to Miami Heat, source confirms

A source in ESPN’s Tim Bontemps confirmed that Caleb Martin has agreed to return to the Miami Heat on a three-year deal worth 20 million.

Martin, a banned free agent who entered for Miami last season, provided the injured heat team with a solid rotation option on the wing.

After playing his first two seasons with his twin brother Cody in Charlotte, Caleb signed a two-way deal with Miami and went on to a career high of 22.9 minutes per game. He scored 9.2 points per game, shooting 50.7% off the field and 41.3% off the 3-point range.

Martin, 26, started 12 games last season – mainly as a replacement for the injured Jimmy Butler – and his overall aggressive play and strong defense helped the Heat swim without a single star.

Athletic announced Martin’s contract for the first time on Wednesday.

Martin is the latest role player to return to the heat this season, having agreed to re-sign guard Victor Oladipo on a one-year contract earlier this month.
