Cheryl Grenner, the wife of arrested American basketball star Britney Grenner, issued a statement Wednesday after a phone call with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Cheryl Grener has demanded a visit to the White House after his wife was arrested in an attempt to enter Russia on February 17. The trial of Brittany Grener in a Moscow court on drug trafficking charges is expected to resume on Thursday. Britney Grener’s handwritten letter was delivered to Biden on Monday, in which she wrote that she was “afraid” that she would be permanently trapped in Russia and asked to help bring him and other detained Americans home.
In a statement from Cheryl Grener, which she posted on Instagram, she wrote, “I will speak curiously and clearly until she returns home, but I hope the president will read my wife’s letter and respond.” It will take time. It is heartening to know that it has not been forgotten.
“I want to thank everyone who worked hard for BG. This means for my whole family as well as for my wife.
“Please continue to pray for my family and all the other families who have been wrongfully detained, because our pain lasts until our loved ones are brought home. We will all continue to use our voices to name and support Americans who have been wrongfully detained. He is doing everything he can to bring them home. ”
Britney Grener’s case has been described by legal and foreign policy experts as a “theater” because US and Russian officials are discussing a possible prisoner exchange to bring her home. Sources close to his case said Grener is expected to be convicted, and could be convicted despite knowing he will be convicted before leaving Russia.
