AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022 Results and Recap: The Crown of Three New Champions

There were six championship matches for the latest pro-wrestling pay-per-view event, three of which created new title-holders.

The first championship match of the night was for the ROH and IWGP World Tag Team Championships where FTR (C) (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) defeated United Empire (C) (Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan) and Ropongi Vice. (Rocky). Romero and Beretta) retained the ROH tag team title and won the IWGP World Tag Team title.

Injuries in the middle of the match forced Dax to go backstage, but he eventually returned by tapping his shoulder and joining Rocky as a big rig finisher to win the pin-fall.

This is the first time Wheeler and Harwood have won IWGP tag team titles. He has been the ROH tag team champion since defeating Brisco on April 1 in the Supercard of Honor XV.

In the AEW All-Atlantic Championship match, Pac (former WWE superstar Adrienne Neville) defeated Clark Connors, Malakai Black and Miro to become the inaugural champions.

After leaving Connors and Miro with a 450-splash, Pack made a Brutalizer submission to Connors for the win. Pack had to beat Buddy Mathews to reach the final, while Malakai Black defeated Penta Oscuro and Miro defeated Ethan Page.

Clark Connors should never be in competition. Nevertheless, he replaced NJPW star Tomohiro Ishii as he was unable to compete medically due to a subsequent knee injury and was ruled out of the match.

In the main event of AEW X NJPW Forbidden Door, Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to become the new AEW Interim World Champion. After the Bulldog choke almost knocked out his opponent, Moxley hit his Death Rider finisher for a clean pin-fall victory.

On the June 3 episode of AEW Rampage, AEW Double Or Nothing’s new AEW World Champion CM Punk announced that he has a foot injury. In his absence, AEW President Tony Khan decided to crown the new Interim Champion through the Interim AEW World Championship Eliminator series.

Tanahashi was going to defeat Hiruki Goto at the NJPW Dominion, while Moxley reached the final by defeating Kyle O’Reilly in the June 8 episode of Dynamite. When Punk returns, Moxley (or then-Interim Champion) will face Punk in the AEW World Championship Unification match.

Will Osprey (c) defeated Orange Cassidy to retain the title
