Alexia Putelas of Spain is suspected of injuring a knee in practice

Spain midfielder and women’s Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putelas has suffered a knee injury ahead of the Women’s European Championships, the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) said on Tuesday.

Putelas, who was named FIFA’s best female player earlier this year, was at the center of Barcelona’s women’s team, which won the Spanish League and finished runners-up in the Champions League.

She was the highest-scoring player in the Champions League with 11 goals and also completed 18 strikes in the league.

“Alexia Putelas sprained her left knee during a practice session for the Spanish women’s national team.” The RFEF said in a statement:,

“Medical tests will determine the extent of the injury.”

Spain, the biggest contenders to win the Euro, began their group campaign against Finland at Milton Keynes in England on Friday.
