CHICAGO – Chicago Cubs pitcher Alec Mills dropped out of the game against the Boston Red Sox on Saturday after throwing just seven pitches due to a lower back injury.
The Cubs said the right-handed batsman is being over-evaluated.
The 30-year-old Mills (0-1, 9.87 ERA) fired Jaren Duran and left after giving Rafael Devers a double.
Mark Litter Jr. came in and he knocked out Jedi Martinez and Xander Bogarts was knocked out, the innings ended.
Mills was activated on June 7 from a 60-day injury list for the right quadriceps strain.
