The Hamilton Bulldogs topped the Shavinigan Cataract in overtime, earning a place in the Memorial Cup winning game.

ST JOHN, New Brunswick – The Hamilton Bulldogs beat the Schweinigen Cataract 4-3 on Monday night, with Jan Mysak scoring 10:08 in overtime to reach the Memorial Cup final.

The semi-final victory saw the Bulldogs reach the championship game against host St. John’s Sea Dogs.

Artem Grushnikov, Mason McTavish and Logan Morrison scored regular goals for the Bulldogs, who won the Ontario Hockey League crown 16-3 in the playoffs.

Maverick Bork, Olivier Nadeu and William Wellett scored for cataract regulation and won the President’s Cup by winning seven overtime in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the first in the franchise’s 53-year existence.

Marco Constantini scored 33 from Hamilton. Anthony Columbe intercepted 39 of Shavinigan’s 43 shots.

In the preliminary round, Cataracts scored three power-play goals seven times to beat the Bulldogs 3-2.

Hamilton made significant changes to the rematch, giving Power-Play a chance and giving Schwinigen a 38-30 lead.

2012 Memorial Cup champion Schweinigan finished second in the preliminary round, beating Edmonton and Hamilton 5-3 in the final round-robin game to beat the hosts of St. John 5-3.

Hamilton struggled in the opening round of the tournament, losing to St. John’s and Chovinigan, and reached the semifinals with a 4-2 victory over Edmonton in the final preliminary round game.
