Anand L. Rai made his film debut in the third installment of the 2011 hit Tanu Weds Manu.
Anand L. Rai, one of the most famous filmmakers in the modern Hindi film industry, is known for his romantic comedy films and light plays. The films he has directed are hugely entertaining as well as critically acclaimed. Beginning his career in the TV industry, he went some distance and returned to make feature films.
He directed his first film, Strangers, released in 2005. The film did not go unnoticed at the box office. His second film, Thoda Life Thoda Magic, came out in 2008, but despite a good star cast, it did not work out as expected.
Rai made his directorial debut in the hit 2011 film Tanu Weds Manu. The film was a romantic comedy and did well at the box office. Talented actors like R Madhavan and National Award winner Kangana Ranaut played the lead roles.
The story of the film was fresh and it caught the attention of the young audience. The film also had a very talented supporting cast which definitely helped make the film a blockbuster. After this film, Rai set up his own famous production house called Color Yellow Productions.
The production house supported a number of hit films like Tumbad, Lal Kaptan and Manmarjiyan.

Manu, played by R Madhavan, is a doctor who returns to India in search of a bride. At first glance, he falls in love with Kangana Ranaut’s free-spirited Tanu. Tanu gets attention but she has different plans. The film has strong supporting actors including Jimmy Shergill, Deepak Dobriyal and Swara Bhaskar. - Raanjhana (2013)
Kundan, who plays the role of Dhanush, lives in Benaras and is the son of a Hindu religious leader. Throughout his young life, he tries to seduce Sonam Kapoor in the most unique way, only to find out that his childhood sweetheart is planning to marry a student politician, he was taken to his university. Kundan left no stone unturned in expressing his love for Zoya. Mo. Zeeshan Ayub, Kumud Mishra, Swara Bhaskar and Abhay Deol did a great job as supporting actors. - Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015)
After the original story, Tanu and Manu’s marriage breaks down and they decide to separate. Manu clashes with Tanu’s friend Kusum, but plans to return soon. The film earned Kangana the third National Award for Best Actor. Unique Star Cast – Jimmy Shergill, Deepak Dobrial, Mohammed. Zeeshan Ayub, Swara Bhaskar did an amazing job for the film. - Zero (2018)
Baua Singh, played by Shah Rukh Khan, is a man of vertical challenge. He goes through a difficult time to meet his spouse for marriage. He meets Afia Bhinder (Anushka Sharma), a scientist with cerebral palsy, but runs away when he gets a chance to meet Bollywood actress Babita Kumari, played by Katrina Kaif. Life takes a turn and Baua returns to Afia from a life-changing experience. - Atarangi Ray (2021)
Sara Ali Khan is a very creative story about a girl from Bihar, looking for love in two parallel times. A Tamil boy named Dhanush comes to her and they both fall in love. The story of the film is non-linear and perfectly synchronized with each other. Akshay Kumar got praise for the role of Sara’s boyfriend but only in her imagination.
