The announcement came just days after Odisha won silver medals in both boys and girls in Kho Kho at the Play India Youth Games 2022. The team owned by Odisha Sports Development and Promotion Company (OSDPC) will be the fifth franchise in the league.
“Kho kho is very popular in many parts of Odisha. At the recent Khelo India Youth Games, our boys and girls played well and won silver medals. As this is a traditional game, we have a lot of scope to develop it further in the state. So he has decided to join the Kho-Kho League. This is part of the vision of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik regarding sports in Odisha, ”said Tushar Kanti Behra, Minister for Sports and Youth Services.
In the last decade, the government led by Naveen Patnaik has not only organized some of the major sports competitions in the country but also developed world-class multi-sports infrastructure.
OSDPC is collaborating with leading steelmaker ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited (AM / NS India) and will work with Ultimate Kho-Kho.

Ultimate Kho Kho had earlier announced four franchises. Corporate giants Adani Group and GMR Group acquired the Gujarat and Telangana franchises, while Capri Global and KLO Sports are owned by Rajasthan and Chennai respectively.
Ultimate Kho Kho has signed a special multi-year agreement with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) as its broadcast partner. The league action will be broadcast in English as well as other regional languages on Sony’s sports channel and OTT platform SonyLIV.
