TNPL 2022, Trichy Warriors vs Tirupur Tamizhans: Mohammad, Tushar Power to win Tirupur

The Warriors scored 157 for 6 in 20 overs, but the Tamijan team went ahead in 18.5 overs and won.

Openers Murali Vijay and Amit Satvik added 57 runs for the first wicket in 5.3 overs to give the Warriors a strong start. This can set the stage for a very large total.

But the regular loss of wickets – 112 for 6 in 14.2 overs without losing a good slide from 57 – saw the Warriors lose much of the field.

But P Sarvana Kumar and M Mathivanan put on a 45-run stand for the seventh wicket to seal the Warriors’ innings. Sarvan Kumar (17 off 20 balls, 1 × 4) and Mathivanan (27 off 18 balls, 27, 2 × 4, 2 × 6) made some impact in the last five overs.

M Mohammad (1), Ashwin Christ (2) and S Mohan Prasad (1) were the main victims for Tamiz.

Chasing the 158-run target, Tirupur got off to a bad start, scoring 17 for 2 in 2 overs. Trichy openers Aniruddha Srikanth and S Siddharth were challenged by Saranav Kumar.

But Subramaniam Anand (35) and Man Bafna (26) put on a 61-run stand for the third wicket as Tamizhan reached 78 in 10 overs.

Since then, they needed 80 off 60 balls and Tamizan had 8 wickets left, which was not a big target. But they also had to face a slowdown in the innings and lost 20 for 4 in the next 4 overs.

At the time, they were 98 for six in 14.1 overs, yet they needed 60 off 29 balls, with only late batsmen left.
