Three potential destinations for Jesse Lingard

The 29-year-old had a memorable campaign on the edge of the Red Devils last time out.

The Englishman had played the second half of the 2020-21 season against West Ham United. However, Manchester United missed the opportunity to take advantage of the attacking midfielder despite having a lot of interest in him last summer.

The dynamic midfielder is now evaluating his options as he looks for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup.

Here, we look at three potential destinations for England International.

Everton

Everton are one of several clubs that have registered their interest in Lingard as Frank Lampard has tried to strengthen his side as he did in the Premier League last season.

Toffee has lost his star striker Richardson to Tottenham Hotspur. Lingard will not be the choice for a replacement like the Brazilian, but will add a lot of creativity to Everton’s side.

Lampard has many areas to address in his team and Lingard can be a valuable asset to him due to his versatility and experience.

Newcastle United

This is an exciting time for the rich Saudi Arabia-owned Newcastle United. Magpies’ last season has been good since Eddie Howe took control of mid-season.

Newcastle have done well to strengthen their squad this summer, finishing 11th last season, struggling at the bottom of the table before Howe’s appointment.

The Tyneside club are believed to be interested in signing Lingard, who also lost him in January. That would be a great addition for the 29-year-old Magpie, who will be eyeing a fragmentary qualification this summer.

West Ham United

After a sensational six-month loan at West Ham in the 2020-21 season, it is clear that the Hammers will run for Lingard’s signature, especially for a free transfer.

David Moyes has a very strong team that was in the top four for most of last season. However, due to a lack of depth in the team, he eventually dropped out.

The inclusion of Lingard will greatly enhance the quality of the Hammers, although West Ham will have to fight for a starting spot considering the options they currently have.
