Sources told ESPN that the Premier League footballer, who was arrested on suspicion of rape, faces two more charges of assaulting another woman.
The player, who could not be named for legal reasons, was questioned by London’s Metropolitan Police earlier this week and released on bail until an unspecified date in August.
Earlier, it was reported that a well-known international man was arrested on Monday morning on charges of rape in June.
Two separate incidents surfaced late last year, and Scotland Yard said in a statement: “On July 4, a 20-year-old woman was charged with rape. The alleged rape was reported in June 2022. On July 4, a 29-year-old man was arrested in Barnett. Was arrested on suspicion of rape at the address and was taken into custody.
“While in custody, he was arrested in April and June 2021 on suspicion of two counts of raping a 20-year-old woman. He was later released on bail until August.
“The situation is being investigated.”
The players’ club declined to comment. It remains to be seen whether these players will take part in their team’s pre-season matches.
The Premier League season starts on August 5.
