Tatzana Maria reached her first Grand Slam semifinal in 34 years

Tatzana Maria advanced to the semifinals of Wimbledon on Tuesday – the 34-year-old German’s first last four of any Grand Slam event – defeating Jules Neymar 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Maria will face third-seeded Ons Jabur or unseeded Mary Bozkova to advance to the finals.

Maria, ranked 103, is the sixth woman to reach the Wimbledon semifinals at the age of 34. Maria returned from the set, defeating 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the fourth round.

Neymar broke in the final game by hitting the backhand into the net at match point. Neymar was a qualifier at the French Open, having lost in the first round of the Grand Slam.
