DENVER – If the Tampa Bay Lightning needs a clutch goal in the third period of the Stanley Cup playoffs, the goal scorer is Lady Platoon.
Pallet scored the game-winning goal in the third period at 13:38 on Friday night, preventing Lightning from a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final and sending the series back to Tampa. ,
“He keeps doing it,” winger Pat said. “He’s a gamer. He plays right every night. He goes to that dirty area and he gets rewarded. He’s a star in this league. He’s a high-foreheaded player in this league. He shows up in big moments.”
This was his 11th goal in the playoffs. The platoon has scored seven of those 11 goals in the third round of the game. These include two game-winning goals against the New York Rangers, one wide goal against the Florida Panthers and their bravery in retaining the Lightning Stanley Cup three-peat opportunity in Denver.
While the score was tied at 2-2, Lightning cycled around the avalanche area. The platoon held its stick high and stopped for a pass. Defender Victor Headman threw it into the puck and Platt’s shot was hit by Colorado goalkeeper Darcy Cooper, giving them a 3-2 lead.
“I was just trying to give up and lose a little bit. I looked at Heidi and she looked at me. So for me it was an easy shot. I only try once. [it] And luckily they went inside, ”Palt said.
The goal was to start the festivities in Zekia, where Platt’s family hosted a watch party for Game 5.
Palat said, “My parents had just texted me that there were about 80 people there. It was 2 o’clock in the afternoon. So even though the game was very late, I was happy to have the support of everyone at home. ”
The platoon is a favorite of his comrades. The winger joined the team in 2012-13, playing with Syracuse Crunch in the AHL for coach John Cooper.
“All I can say about Palt is that he plays with the best players in the world every year and he is always the third person to discuss this line. But if you ask the other two players in his line, they’ll talk about it. He’s probably the most, ”Cooper said.“ He just does his job. And he gets paid for his hard work. And everyone in that room knows how much space Palt has given to this costume, and I think I interact with Lady Palt in the playoffs every year. “
Pallet’s goal completed a stunning road victory for Lightning, who avoided a knockout after a home overtime defeat in Game 4. A huge crowd had gathered to watch the Stanley Cup presented by an avalanche on the ice house. The Tampa Bay game was sparked by those fans, forcing Colorado to play catchup.
“We had no choice. Do or die for us. This group did a great job focusing on the present and they are here, a very difficult place to win, just play a solid game and give yourself a chance. An opportunity. That’s what we did tonight. We won one game, “said captain Steven Stamkos.
Cooper said it would not be fair to see the series end in five games.
“It’s just a game,” he said. “We can’t hang our hats on what happened tonight because everyone has to go home, everyone has to get back on the plane. But I guess if you’ve seen this series, do you intend to go six or seven? “There are two good hockey teams here. We look forward to seeing you in two nights.”
