Bristol, Tenn. – Four-time defending champion Steve Torrance qualified for Top Fuel at the NHRA Thunder Valley National on Friday at Bristol Dragway.
Unbeaten this season, Torrance ran at 317.79 mph in his 11,000-horsepower Capco Contractors Dragster, running 3.791-seconds.
“It was a good run to get here and get a good run out of the trailer, spin the ball and give us some momentum on the day of the race,” Torrance said. “Tomorrow will be completely different, so we’ll see where we go from there, but it was a good, tough pass to get to number one.”
At the top of the Robert Hyatt Funny Car segment, Greg Anderson led the Pro Stock and Angel Sampe became the fastest in the Pro Stock motorcycle.
Height’s Chevrolet Camaro scored 310.98 at 3.971 and Anderson scored 6.686 at Camaro at 202.21. The previous winner Sampila had 6.966 AA at 185.38 in Suzuki.
