Nottingham Forest sign Omar Richards from Bayern Munich as they prepare for the Premier League

The upcoming expedition will see Forrest compete in top flight for the first time since landing in 1999 – since then, he has spent three years in the third category.

Apparently leaving no stone unturned in their bid to avoid going back to the Championship live next year, Richards signed for £ 10m (.8 11.8m) to take them to £ 46m – only eight Premier League clubs paid more in this window.

Richards is his fifth new deal, in which Forrest has already brought in Taivo Avoni, Mausa Nyakhate, Giulian Biancon and Dean Henderson, who have joined on loan.

Former England Under-21 international Richards joined Bayern last year, signing a free transfer after his reading contract expired.

The London-born left-back has played 17 games in all competitions since Die Rotten won the Bundesliga, but he has returned to England and is set to get his first chance in the Premier League by signing a four-year deal.

It is the third new Forest signing from the Bundesliga, after Avoni and Nyakhate, who joined from Union Berlin and Mainz, respectively.
