Kenny Jensen activates star closure from Atlanta Braves 15-day IL

The Atlanta Braves activated star closure Kenley Jensen from the 15-day injury list ahead of Wednesday afternoon’s game against the New York Mets.

Jensen was placed on IL last month due to irregular heartbeats. Three-time All-Star underwent corrective heart surgery in November 2018 – his second procedure – a recurring irregular heartbeat prompted him to be admitted to Denver Hospital. He underwent heart surgery in 2012.

Janssen, 34, has a 3.58 ERA and made 20 saves – the third-highest in the National League – in 32 games this season, his first with the Braves.

To give Jensen a place in their active roster, the Braves placed right-handed reliever Darren O’Della on a 15-day IL, strained his left calf muscle, and withdrew from Tuesday.

Jensen already has strong bullpen figures for the emerging Braves, which could put the Mets half a game behind with Wednesday’s win.
