India v England 5th Test: Ben Fox’s Covid-19 Test positive, English stumper doubtful for Edgbaston Test

On the third day of the third Test against New Zealand at Headingley, Fox could not take a single wicket on Saturday (June 25) due to a heavy back injury.

At the next medical evaluation on Saturday evening, he tested positive for LFT COVID-19.

Details of his return to England will be announced in due course. However, he is expected to be fit for the fifth Test against India starting next Friday in Edgbaston.

Kent wicketkeeper / batsman Sam Billings, under ICC approval, is ready for a change like Covid and will go straight into the XI when the fourth day starts at Headingley on Sunday. Billings will be wicketkeeping.

The rest of the parties in England report symptoms and, if necessary, follow the health protocol of subsequent testing. There are no other positive cases in the camp.

Rohit Kovid positive

India captain Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, tested positive for COVID-19 after a rapid antigen test (RAT) on Saturday night (June 25).

Rohit, who played in India’s four-day practice match against Leicestershire, has immediately gone to the quarantine and will not take part in the action on the fourth day of the match.

Rohit Sharma

The fifth Test between India and England starts at Edgbaston in Birmingham on July 1 and it remains to be seen whether he recovers in time for that match.

“Team India captain Rohit Sharma has tested positive for Covid-19 after the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Saturday. He is currently in isolation in a team hotel and is being monitored by the BCCI’s medical team, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement.

Considering his fitness, Rohit will lead the team in the fifth Test against England at Edgbaston starting July 1. India is leading the series 2-1.

The rescheduled match is part of last year’s five-match Test series which was postponed after the fourth Test due to an outbreak of Kovid-19 in the Indian camp.

After lengthy practice for the all-important fifth Test, the practice match will be an opportunity for Man in Blue to come to a new position.

Recently, Rohit Sharma has completed 15 years in international cricket for India. He made his ODI debut for the national team on this day in 2007 against Ireland in Belfast.

He has shared a heartbreaking message on social media about completing 15 years in international cricket.

“Hello, I am completing 15 years of international cricket today since I made my debut for India. It is a long journey that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

“I just want to thank everyone who was part of this journey and special thanks to everyone who helped me become today’s player. To all cricket lovers, fans and critics, your love and support for your team makes us lose. Thank you, RS, ”the star Indian batsman said in his message.
