Harish Peradi slammed the Malayalam Film Actors Association for its anti-feminist role

A month after Malayalee actor Harish Peradi announced his resignation from the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) in protest of the organisation’s ‘anti-woman and anti-woman attitude’, he has been slammed again in a recent social media post. “Any organization that protects misunderstood and ‘anti-women’ people cannot be called Amma,” she said.

After actress Mala Parvati resigned from the organization’s internal grievance committee (ICC) for removing actor-producer Vijay Babu from the executive committee, Harish Peradi slammed the organisation’s leadership.

Vijay Babu is accused of raping an upcoming actor. Shweta Menon and Kukku Parmeshwaran have also joined the army to protest the association’s decision to allow Mr Babu to remain alone on the executive committee until his innocence is confirmed.

Harish Peradi said there was no intention to remain a member as the Actors Union had consistently failed to take action against those responsible for the action against women and had resigned last month.

In his most recent Facebook post, he said his resignation was discussed at an executive meeting two days ago and that he had received a phone call from the AMMA general secretary asking if he was still adamant about his position on the resignation. He said that with the expulsion of Vijay Babu, he would stick to his resignation.

He also said that he was the son of a freedom fighter who had joined the Quit India Movement. She said Amma, which means mother is a beautiful word in Malayalam and her mother tongue did not allow her to address the anti-feminist organization as AMMA. He wrote in the post, “Please accept my resignation as soon as possible at the meeting of the People’s Executive on 15th June. You and I will go our separate ways. “
