In his last seven regular season games last season, T Higgins scored 90 fantasy points. By comparison, Higgins ’teammate Jammer Chase averaged just 99.4 in his last eight.
For Bengal signal-caller Joe Burrows, he equaled Josh Allen with the most points in 14 to 17 weeks. Also, Kirk Cousins had a fictitious QB9 from 10 to 18 weeks, which will surprise you.
When drafting, it’s easy to see the player’s season-long stats and imaginative approach. Sometimes, however, he just needs to expand his horizons. The player needs to analyze from many angles and this column does just that.
Take a look at the nine penetrating second half figures to keep track of the 2022 season.
Amon-Ra St. Brown has averaged 11.2 goals per game in the last six games
St. Brown played less in the first 11 games of his career last season, but were attacked by the Lions in the last six. At the time, St. Brown had an average of 8.5 receptions and 93.3 reception yards per game. On top of that, there was only one wide receiver that scored more ingenious points than St. Brown (100.1) during that stretch, and that was Cooper Coupe (109.3). The Lions signed wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. during free agency, and wide receiver James Williams, selected in the draft, said St. Brown should play a key role in the Lions’ passing game. In the current average draft situation, this is a great value.
Elijah Moore scored 100.3 fantasy points in 9 to 13 weeks
The Jets added wide receiver Garrett Wilson in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, but Moore, New York’s second-round pick of 2021, still holds promise. Moore was injured throughout his playoff season, but from 9 to 13 weeks he showed what he is capable of on the field. At the time, only Justin Jefferson (126) had a more imaginative score than Moore (100.3). Moore has the ability to lead the Jets this season after averaging 9.0 goals per game during that period. Don’t ignore that in the draft.
Diontae Johnson led all-around receivers with 106 goals between 9 and 18 weeks
In the final season of future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Rothlisberger, the Steelers ’offense was a shield in itself, averaging just 312.1 total yards per game. He is ranked 23rd in the league. Johnson had the ninth most imaginable score in wide receivers from 9 to 18 weeks. Mitch Trubiski signed with the Steelers this off-season and the strength and mobility of his hand will not limit him aggressively. In 2022, Johnson should lead Pittsburgh and he is another player who is above expectations in terms of his average draft status.
Before his hamstring injury in his 15th week, Leonard Fornett touched 102 times in 10 to 14 weeks.
Nazi Harris (107), Jonathan Taylor (114) and Antonio Gibson (121) were the other running backs who touched more than Fornet at the time. As a result, he accumulated 120.1 fantasy points during that period, which only Taylor (122) surpassed. Now that Ronald Jones II is with the Kansas City Chiefs, Fornett basically has a backfield. Richard White was drafted by the Buccaneers in the third round of this year’s draft, but would be surprised if Tom Brady relied too much on the running back. Buccaneers are 17-2 when Fornet has 10 or more attempts to run and 14-1 when they run for 50 or more yards. Fornet has a voice over its ADP, don’t overdo it.
Eliza Mitchell remained active and handled 86% of the 49-year-old’s ongoing efforts
Several injuries negatively affected Mitchell’s availability, but he was still able to collect 963 rushing yards, 137 receiving yards and six touchdowns during his rookie season. He averaged 17.2 rushing attempts per game and played five games with 100 or more rushing yards. This was the biggest act of treason in the 49-year history. In the offensive plan, led by Kyle Shanahan, fictional football managers are confused about who to touch, but Mitchell will head the 49ers committee in 2022. Given its average draft status, this is another great value.
Austin Eckler (52) was the only runner to score more goals in 9 to 18 weeks than Josh Jacobs (48).
During this period Jacobs scored 150.6 fictitious points, making him RB6. It was very exciting to see him being used as a receiver outside the backfield. The addition of Davante Adams could take Raiders’ offense to new heights in 2022. Jacob will benefit from a more efficient offense, as he will have more chances to score. Under the leadership of new head coach Josh McDaniels, they should feel equal opportunity in a crowded backfield that includes Kenyan Drake, Zamir White and Brandon Bolden. Jacobs has a great RB2 in his average draft position, especially for draftsmen who prefer wide receivers early. Playing only 60% offensive snaps in his career, he never fell below RB15.
He was the only tight end to score more goals in 9 to 18 weeks than Jack Ertz (72) than Mark Andrews (102).
Due to its Arizona status, Ertz is in excellent position for the year of his career and is readily available in almost double-digit rounds of the Fantasy Draft. Last season, Ertz shared the field only three times with Kyler Murray and playwright Diane Hopkins. Hopkins averaged 4.3 goals per game, 3.3 receptions and 31 yards per game and 8.1 goals per game, 5.6 receptions and 57 yards per game. Marquis Brown will make up for Christian Kirk’s empty goal, but with Hopkins suspended for six games, Ertz could emerge as Murray’s favorite red zone target after his resurgent 2021 season in which he finished as TE5.
Weeks 8 to 18, Pat Freemouth TE7. Were
As a threat in 2021, Freemouth had 20 red zone goals, playing only 62% offensive snaps for the Steelers. On top of that, Freemouth averaged 5.9 goals over a period of 8 to 18 weeks. Although receiver George Pickens was drafted by Pittsburgh in April, Freemouth should increase goals, catches, receiving yards and touchdowns, especially Eric Ebron is no longer around. In 2022, Freemouth should be able to gain more advantage as a receiver in the middle of the field and become one of the top tight end goals in the double-digit round. Freemouth TE1 is firmly on the radar.
Jared Goff has thrown 11 touchdown passes and two interceptions in the last six games of 2021.
Last season, when Anthony Lynn was Detroit’s offensive coordinator, Goff was less productive. In the middle of the season, head coach Dan Campbell accepted playcalling duties and Goff’s game improved significantly. The Lions have a new offensive coordinator in Ben Johnson this season and they are happy with the change based on Goff reports. Detroit’s offense under Johnson seems to complement the drama or subtle changes that make Goff more comfortable. Moreover, with the Rams in the 2018 season, the Lions have staff to replicate it when completed as a fictional QB7. In its average draft position, Goff will have a few streaming weeks and a high enough floor to roster in in-depth format.
