Hockey India has announced 31 players for the camp, which ends on July 23, before the team leaves for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Under the leadership of Manpreet Singh, India will launch its campaign against Ghana on July 31. India will also face hosts England, Canada and Wales in Pool B in round-robin league matches.
Hockey India nominated PR Sreejesh, Krishna B Pathak, Pawan, Surendra Kumar, Harmanpreet Singh, Varun Kumar, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh and Germanpreet Singh for the camp.
Manpreet Singh, Hardik Singh, Samsher Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Akashdeep Singh, Neelkanth Sharma along with Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Sukhjit Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Abhishek, Gursahibjit Singh, Mandeep Mor, Sanjay have been called. Mohammad Raheel Mausen, Sumit, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, Gurinder Singh, Jaskaran, Ashish Kumar Topno and Shilanand Lakra.
Speaking about the camp, head coach Graham Reid said, “After the FIH Pro League matches in Europe, the players got six days off to spend time with their families. I believe this break has helped the players feel refreshed mentally and physically. Physically.”
