The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season at Brentford where he scored once in 11 games. He has denied Brentford the opportunity to sign again to move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham also showed interest in Ericsson, but United were able to agile when Antonio Conte withdrew from the contract.

Eric Ten Haag is set to become the second signing of the summer after 22-year-old Netherlands left-back Tyrell Malaysia was captured by Feyenoord.

This is the latest move in Ericsson’s remarkable comeback after suffering a heart attack while playing for Denmark in last summer’s European Championships.

His Inter Milan contract officially expired in December 2021, and he signed a free agent from Brentford in January 2022.

He was instrumental in helping Brentford to 13th place in the top flight in the first season of the Premier League, sparking interest from several clubs across Europe following his promotion from the Championship.

United have won the race for his signature and will be part of a new era at Ten Hague in Old Trafford.
