CHICAGO: White Sox right-hander Michael Kopech was ruled out of the first innings against the Rangers on Sunday with an injury after bowling off just 13 pitches.
Kopech, who is 2-2 with a 1.94 ERA, was checked by the training staff with a full count and two outs against Adolis Garcia. Frustrated, he tossed the practice pitch before tossing the baseball coin and marched to the dugout to get applause from the fans.
Reynaldo Lopez replaces Kopech and Garcia is dismissed. Lopez scored two unbeaten innings in Friday’s opener as the White Sox beat the Rangers 8-3.
Left-arm fielder AJ Pollock caught Marcus Semin jumping for the first out with an extra base hit. Kopech then dismissed Corey Seeger.
The list of injured includes seven Chicago players.
