Kumar Sangakkara had earlier scored the highest score in Sri Lanka’s Test against Australia (192 in November 2007), but Chandimal hit 36 off 326 balls with 16 fours and five sixes.

Where is your head

Head has struggled to score double figures in just one of three innings in the series against Sri Lanka – although a high score of 12 would have been much needed.

Notably, on spin-friendly, challenging pitches in the subcontinent, Head lost two of three wickets, questioning his defensive technique.
