Get ready to attack! England recently played an aggressive brand of cricket, winning the series 3-0 against New Zealand and chasing a target of nearly 300 runs twice in the last fortnight.
Stokes acknowledged that India is a different competitor, but indicated that he expects to be treated in a one-sided Test.
“Despite the opposition, we will still have the same mentality,” Stokes told reporters after England won their third Test against New Zealand.
Stokes, who took a mental break from cricket during the fourth Test against India in 2021, said: “Obviously, this is going to be a completely different protest against his attack. And players.
“We will try to do well in the last three matches and continue to do so against India on Friday,” he said.
Stokes was delighted that the England players were able to follow the new team strategy set by him and coach Brendon McCullum.
“I knew everyone would accept the new mindset that Brendan and I created, but I honestly didn’t think it would be that good,” Stokes said.
“It simply came to our notice then. A 3-0 series win against the best team in the world is a special start. When I took over, the children’s mindset about Test cricket was changing. This is fun.
Big credit to Brendan (McCullum) and the backroom staff. Trent Bridge was fantastic, “Stokes told a post-match press conference.
“Being 55/6 and the way we did it (here) was something special. Potsy (Matty Pots) has taken it into the water like a fish. This game is incredible. Brody (Stuart Broad), even at 36, bowled 50 overs a week.
“I wanted to inspire the kids to see what their potential is. It’s great to see Lychee taking 10 wickets. I’ve never seen a better dressing room than this for someone’s success. Various opponents (India), we want to draw another series. We will come out with the same mentality, ”he said.
