However, just 12 days after the friendly was announced, Roma confirmed on Monday (June 27) that they had withdrawn from the match.
Roma said in a statement that the decision was made after revising their pre-season plans that are favorable to both their men and women.

In a strong statement issued shortly afterwards, Barcelona beat the Europa Conference League winners, managed by their former coach Jose Mourinho.
“Roma have unilaterally, for no reason, decided to withdraw from the agreement reached by both sides for the Joan Gamper Trophy,” the statement said.
“The club is working to find new competitors for this year’s edition. Refunds for tickets already spent will begin in the next 24 hours.
“The club would like to make it clear that the suspension of the games is due to a situation outside the control of FC Barcelona, as expressed by AS Roma.
“The club’s legal department is studying possible action against the Italian club over the damage caused to Barcelona and its fans by this unexpected and unfair decision.”
Before the start of the 2022-23 league season, Barcelona will face UE Olot, Inter Miami, Real Madrid, Juventus, the New York Red Bulls and Manchester City.
