Quarterback Baker Mayfield did not rule out a reconciliation with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday when the NFL suspended his replacement Dawson Watson for the entire 2022 season.
However, Mayfield said he should be Brown who wants to start the process and he has moved on and is looking forward to joining his new team at the end of the business.
“I think something has to happen for this to happen,” Mayfield told reporters at his youth football camp in Norman, Oklahoma. “But we’re ready to move on, I think – on both sides.”
Watson’s trial is set to begin on Tuesday, with Sue L. Robinson, a disciplined officer jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players’ Association. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the NFL expects at least a one-year suspension.
Watson has been accused by several women of inappropriate sexual behavior during a massage session. He recently settled 20 lawsuits against him, but he still faces four active lawsuits. Graziano reported that the NFL will present the cases of five women as evidence to support their position during Tuesday’s hearing, four of whom have filed lawsuits.
If Watson is suspended, the Browns will sign Jacob Brisette this off-season.
Cleveland, meanwhile, has so far failed to trade outside of Mayfield this off-season. 1 total selection for the 2022 season has earned about $ 19 million in guaranteed money. Brown has discussed the business with the Carolina Panthers, according to several sources, but an agreement has yet to be reached.
Mayfield led the Browns to their first playoff victory in 2020 18 years ago, but they struggled last season as Cleveland finished 8-9 and missed the following season. Mayfield Brown is far from trading Cleveland for Watson in March. Brown apologized to Mayfield for attending the mandatory minicamp earlier this month.
Mayfield admitted that he was “disappointed” that the mini-camp did not have its first deal, but that he had no bad feelings for Brown’s fans.
“I’m grateful for my four years at Cleveland,” he said. “I will always have many ups and downs and learning experiences with me. … People of Cleveland, this is a great sports city. I’m grateful for that and unhappy with the city of Cleveland in any way. “
