CHICAGO – Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogarts left Sunday’s game against the Cubs with a left thigh injury.

In the seventh inning, Bogarts took second place when Wilson Contreras tried to steal it. Contraras ‘spikes appeared to have moved to Bogarts’ left foot as Bogarts tagged him.

Chicago manager David Ross challenged the call, but it was confirmed after a review.

Bogarts walked off the field after being assessed by athletic training staff.

Boston did not provide an update on how long Bogarts will be sidelined.

The 29-year-old has batted 318 runs with 31 RBIs this season. He walked 0-of-3 before exiting.
